Paystack Vault is a digital wallet designed to simplify and protect your payment experience. It securely stores your card and bank account information so you can enjoy faster, hassle-free payments on Paystack.
By using Paystack Vault, you're saving time and adding an extra layer of security to your transactions. Your payments will only be completed through OTP authentication sent to your bank and BVN-registered phone number.

How does it work?
Once you choose to save your payment information in Paystack Vault, your data is securely encrypted and stored. When you make a purchase using our checkout, Vault automatically retrieves your saved information, eliminating the need for you to re-enter your bank or card details.
If you have a Vault account and open the Paystack Checkout, you’ll see an option to complete your payment using your saved information in Vault or other payment methods on the Checkout.
To ensure the highest level of security, each transaction is authenticated with a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your bank and BVN-registered phone number. The OTP can be received via SMS or WhatsApp.
How to create a Vault account
1. On the Paystack Checkout, click the ‘Bank’ payment channel and select your bank from the drop-down list.
We will automatically try to resolve the provided account number, but if we’re unable to do so successfully you’ll need to input it manually.
By default, your Vault account will be created with the email address used to initiate the payment but you can change this by clicking on the button in the image below:
2. Once your bank account information is confirmed, click ‘Continue.’
3. The next step is to provide the phone number linked to your bank account or BVN.
If the phone number you enter is not associated with your BVN, you’ll be given the option to try again or continue without saving your payment information to Vault, as seen below:
If you try again and the provided phone number doesn't match the information tied to your BVN record, you won't be able to save your data to Vault. Vault is a tool to combat fraud, and we want to ensure that only the actual bank account holder can authorise or complete payments via Vault.
If you provide the correct phone number, you’ll be sent an OTP via SMS or email to input on the Checkout to confirm this action. Once you enter the right OTP you can then go ahead to complete your payment by making a transfer of the payment amount to a ‘Paystack Direct Debit’ account.
Once the transaction is complete, you’ll receive an email like the one below confirming the creation of your Vault account:
