In addition to Card and EFT payments, South African merchants can now get paid via Scan to Pay. Scan to Pay is a QR payment method that allows customers to make payments by scanning a QR code from inside their mobile banking application. Scan to Pay is one of the most popular QR payments providers in South Africa.
When the checkout form loads, the customer can select the option to pay using the Scan to Pay channel. Customers can scan the QR code from within any of the Scan to Pay-enabled mobile applications or enter the number displayed at the bottom of the QR code into the app to complete payment.
Which banks support QR payments with Scan to Pay?
South African customers using these banks can make payments with Scan to Pay through either their mobile banking application or a standalone Scan to Pay application:
- ABSA
- Capitec
- Nedbank
- Standard Bank
- FNB
What is the transaction charge for the Scan to Pay channel?
The charge per transaction is the same as other payment channels; 2.9% + R1.00 (VAT exclusive).
Can customers make recurring payments with the Scan to Pay channel?
It's currently not possible for customers to make recurring payments with the Pay with Scan to Pay payment channel.
Can all Paystack merchants accept payments through the Scan to Pay channel?
The Scan to Pay channel is currently available to South African merchants only.
