We have made some changes to the user experience for Sterling Bank customers using the Paystack Pay with Bank channel. These changes were necessary to improve security and the overall user experience for customers who choose to use the channel.
Previously, customers would automatically receive OTPs as soon as the transaction is initiated. The major change is that Sterling Bank customers will now be required to dial the bank's USSD code to generate an OTP to complete transactions via this channel.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to complete a Sterling Bank Pay-with-Bank transaction:
-
Select the Pay with Bank option on the Paystack checkout form and choose 'Sterling Bank' from the drop-down.
-
Input your Sterling Bank account number in the field provided. You may also be required to supply your date of birth or BVN for first-time payments.
-
Paystack automatically validates the account number and sends a request to the bank to start the transaction.
-
Generate an OTP by dialling this USSD code *822*999*0# on your registered phone number. An SMS containing the OTP is instantly sent to your registered phone number.
-
Input the OTP on the checkout form.
-
Paystack validates the OTP, completes the transaction and displays the transaction status.
