Paystack merchants in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa (with international payments enabled) can select Apple Pay as a channel for their customers to make payments. Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by Apple Inc. that allows users to make payments in iOS apps and on the web using Safari. It is supported on the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac. It adds two-factor authentication via Touch ID, Face ID, PIN, or passcode.

Important to note
Apple Pay is available to Ghanaian, Ivoirian, Kenyan, Nigerian, and South African merchants who want to accept payments from users in the US, UK, Canada, and other countries where Apple Pay is supported. The merchant must enable international payments, and this channel supports GHS, NGN, KES, ZAR and USD* currencies.
*USD is only available to merchants in Nigeria and Kenya.
The experience varies slightly depending on which checkout flow the customer is interfacing with. The option to pay with Apple Pay will only be visible if the customer has previously set up an Apple Pay account and added a card.
Apple Pay is generally only available to cardholders at participating banks in supported countries. Kindly refer to Apple’s participating banks documentation to learn which banks and countries are supported.
What businesses can use Apple Pay?
This payment channel supports all businesses except NGOs and Staged Digital wallets. It is also unavailable for businesses outside Paystack's Acceptable Use Policy.
What are the transaction charges for the Pay with Apple Pay channel?
- The charge for international transactions in Naira is 3.9% + NGN 100 per transaction.
- The charge for USD transactions is 3.9% per transaction.
- The charge for GHS transactions is 1.95%.
- The charge for transactions in KES and USD in Kenya is 3.8% per transaction.
- The charge for transactions in ZAR is 3.1% + R1.00 (VAT exclusive) per transaction.
- The charge for transactions in XOF is 3.8% (VAT exclusive) per transaction.
Can customers make recurring payments with the Pay with Apple Pay channel?
Apple Pay can be used for Subscription payments but cannot be used for charge authorizations.
