Avoiding Common Errors
To avoid the above error which prevents your customers from being able to make payments. You need to take note of the following when setting up Paystack on Shopify
1. Products should be listed in a Paystack-supported currency.
- You want to make sure your product prices on Shopify are set to a currency supported by your Paystack business. For example, if your Paystack business supports Nigerian Naira (NGN) but your products are listed in USD, customers will not be able to proceed to payments.
Setting your store currency to your local currency does not mean international customers will not still be able to make purchases in your store. The equivalent of your price will be charged on their card and paid to you in your local currency. For this, you first need to enable international payments. Check out this guide on how to turn on international payments.
If you're a merchant in Nigeria or Kenya looking to set your prices in USD and receive payments in a USD bank account within your country, you can activate this feature. Please follow this guide to enable the USD currency option in your Paystack dashboard.
2. Ensure API keys are properly configured
- You need to make sure you copy your API keys correctly from your Paystack dashboard.
- Enter your test keys in the provided fields for Test Secret and Public keys and Live Secret and Public keys in the provided fields for Live keys.
- And lastly, ensure you toggle on/off test mode depending on if you want to do test transactions or live transactions
